Its only Free99

Free, Free, Free! Can't we all agree that a free latte from Starbucks tastes so much better than one we have to pay for? Its not just that the Barista made it better but our own conscious 5 dollars was not taken from our pocket to satisfy our appetites. So imagine a world where itunes price was "free99", where pirating is legal. To our benefit media seems to be headed towards this free media content, whether we like it or not. Free news, music, maybe even lattes attract hungrier consumers willing to pay because they have had a taste of the free media sample they got. This tactic works, as a Starbucks barista we offer free drinks as an incentive to get you in our store, within our store you are more likely to purchase something rather than someone who isn't inside a Starbucks. So we "tease" our customers with a free drink, pastry, etc. in which in most cases will get you to come back and purchase something next time. This is a new effective business model that essentially what Anderson talks about.

Anderson states two crucial ideas I found to be quite true, ease of downloading content and our habits on the internet seem carry over to which we now expect things to be easy and free. Both true in the utmost sense because we as human being have been trained (unfortunately) that hard work is trivial and things "should" be handed to us. This is the effect the internet has on its users, laziness. However "free" does have its cons he also believes that its the best way to reach the masses. For example Drake and Lil Wayne sample music free and based on its success they will sell a better version that people will buy. As well as create a fan base that will go to concerts and all musicians make their money from touring nowadays.
