Internet and Politics

The Internet impacts on almost everything in our life. With the improvement of technology, people normally carry more than one Internet accessible gear with them. Myself also included in here. Politic in general is also relevant to it and the book was mostly about this relationship between politics and Internet.
First of all, did Internet made our society more democratic? I agree with this claim considering that the source of getting information has got increased; and with the low barrier of access, it is true that the Internet had given new voice to people who have felt voiceless. And also without complicate process, Internet made it easy for people to publish information. Author mentioned in a book that still disadvantaged groups continued to lag behind in their access to and use of the Net. However, those disadvantaged group are now more accessible to the information than before and that is what I think matters here.
As popular form of Internet publishing writer is focusing on Blog and its use in politics. Many of scholars see the explosion of blogging has democratized access to the tools and techniques required to make a political difference through content creation. Before talking about how influential they are we need to know about who writes the Blog and who reads it. Even there are so many people writing blog it can be seen as very powerful tool, though some of them are popular that draws publics attention and when it comes to politic if gets even lower. Although there are few dozens of these blogs it is true that they impact huge on their readers. And as we can find out from this book, those writers of powerful blogs are tend to be well educated and professionalized in either politics and publishing; that they are already whom are in position of opinion leader. The population toward the reader of politic blogger gravitated on age of thirties. This shows that the impact of Internet is gradual more in some particular age, education, and race groups.
To sum up Internet is playing some impact on politics through the blog and other source of information. However, I think it can be ineffective for some reason thinking it upside down; because there are too many blogs it can ironically limit the power of it. Since there are too many blogs and massive things publishing everyday, people won’t able to choose reliable sources. Then it can make people to go back to major publishing source. I have this experience that once I needed some information about the tablet and e-book to compare and when I googled it there were bunch of blogs full of advertisement and other links that was not useful. So I only went click on forums of major publishing companies then I got tired of it.
Even there is limitation of people that are accessing to the political issue and debates. I am sure that Internet will make those people who were strongly interested in politics more stronger. People with in similar interest gather together not only in blogs but so many other networking services and share their thoughts and opinion spontaneously; but what about those people that are not interested in politics? Comparing to old medias like TV, Internet information if very selective. People choose what to look up for and do what they only want to do. TV is more affective in the way to drag people’s attention to things that they are not interested.
I am sure that the Internet is very useful and powerful source to get information. Even sometimes they are not reliable and play giant junk. Also it is not tend to attract the people who are not interested in initially to look up for certain blogs and sources for politics. I am strongly agree that the importance of Internet itself we’ll be powerful more and more however, I am doubting how political will blend with it.
